Whispers
Sometimes you don't want the whole table to see a message — maybe you're the DM giving a player a secret clue, or two players are coordinating a plan. Whispers let you send a chat message to a specific person, the DM only, or the whole party minus the DM.
Whispers are currently in early release and only available to subscribers. On the Free plan you can still message Everyone, but private recipient options are disabled.
Choosing who sees your message
Click the To: selector above the chat input to choose your audience:
- Everyone — visible to the whole campaign (the default)
- DM — visible only to you and the DM
- An individual player's name — a private whisper to just that player
- Party (No DM) — visible to every player except the DM
Whispering with /w
For speed, you can whisper without touching the selector at all. Type /w followed by a player's name and your message:
/w kylie Did you see that trap?
As you type /w, a filtered list of matching recipients pops up automatically — keep typing to narrow it down, or press Enter to pick the top match and keep typing your message on a clean line.
You can also type dm, party, or everyone/all after /w instead of a name — e.g. /w dm I found something suspicious.
If the name doesn't match anyone in the campaign, Tarrasque.io will let you know so you can fix the spelling before sending.
Spotting a whisper in chat
Whispered messages are marked clearly so no one mistakes them for public chat — a copper accent bar, italic text, and a "Whispered to: <name>" label naming who can see it.
