Remembered exploration

Once a player's token has seen an area, it doesn't go fully black again the moment the token walks away. Instead, it stays dimly visible, like a memory of what was there. This is separate from the token's live vision circle:

  • The brightly lit area is always the token's current vision: wherever the token is standing right now.
  • The dim gray area beyond it is everywhere that token's player has ever seen before, even if the token has since moved far away.

Explored areas are remembered per player and saved on the server, so nothing is lost if a player refreshes the page or comes back to the session later. If more than one of your players is exploring the same map at the same time, each of their own explored areas updates live as they move, without needing a refresh.

tip

Remembered exploration is just a visual aid. It doesn't let a player interact with anything in that area, and monsters or other tokens that have moved since it was explored won't still be shown there.

If you've drawn walls on your map, remembered areas respect them too. A token won't "remember" seeing through a wall it never actually had line of sight past.
